Yeah. I saw better footage though. My first thought was, why didn't they shoot the parents? They allowed their kid to go play with a gorilla. They shoot the gorilla?

idk...I was more concerned with the zoo security. Even if the parent wasn't watching the kid, that boy still shouldn't have been able to make his way in to a enclosure with a 400 pound gorilla.

For all we know, the toddler's mom was over 400 pounds and isn't required to close her bedroom door either.

Well yeah. Because at any moment, the gorilla could have killed the child. Shooting the parents would have solved what? It's part the zoos fault for this even being easy enough for a four-year-old to do, and partly the mothers fault for not paying attention to her child long enough for him to get into a cage with a beast.
Though, shooting the gorilla was probably the sanest way to exit the situation with the least possibility for human endangerment. Bad situation is bad, but dead kid is a lot worse than dead gorilla in the headlines.

Oh. I forget that everybody doesn't realize how overpopulated Earth is. With people. And I guess you prolly think the ones without survival techniques should be protected. Save the children! Give a human a chance to snatch that toddler, while the parents are uploading pics to FB to make it look like they are good at what they do.

Lol, such a weird perspective/argument. Overpopulation is an issue so fuck it if a four year old makes a mistake ehhh just let the little cunt die. Then you try attempting to tie something irrelevant into my argument so you can shift it into a "my worldview vs your worldview" situation, which is a dodgy tactic.
Dont give a fuck about any of those points, this four year old living doesn't do shit for overpopulation. When you analyze this situation and don't tie in arbitrary points like "there are too many humans so I don't care if we let some die" a rational human will say save the child even at the cost of an animals life.
Until you can demonstrate otherwise I question not only your reasoning, but your moral compass.

I think your looking too deep into this. I did express some personal feelings, you are right. To make it simple: The kid has shitty parents. They are allowed to parent him. A monkey picks him up and they shoot him. You'd think with the Jungle Book in theaters more people would be okay with animals raising children.

"monkey" in this context kind of denotes the whole "400 pounds of raw muscle in a body evolved for agility & power" thing. And "picks him up and they shoot him" in this context kind of denotes the whole "a single movement can end the life of this fragile 4 year old" thing.
idk, hate that the gorilla had to die though. he was like 17 years old too
