Another one of Hastur's ideas.
I was just thinking that it would be seriously interesting for an English professor to teach their students about battle rap; maybe grade school teachers, too, but I think that could run in to serious problems in terms of non-family-friendly content. ("So, Mr. Jones, what was this about you laughing as the kids called each other fags in an, um, 'battle rap' event?")
Before you call this ridiculous, hear me out for a minute. Battle rap incorporates complex rhyming, wordplay, punchlines, and all sorts of other things relevant to English understanding and more "proper" forms of writing and literature. I'm not suggesting that we starting handing out degrees in battle rap, but teaching students about it and having them write it could be a very interesting (and useful!) exercise.
