Default Battlers That Should Return To The Ring!

Battlers That Should Return To The Ring

So last year Smack and the staff at URL hosted Summer Madness 2 Return of the Legends. And that’s exactly what it was. Some of the biggest and best battle rappers to ever do it stepped back in the ring for the first time in years to test themselves, the new faces of battle rap, and most importantly put on a show for the fans. Serius Jones, Loaded Lux, Iron Solomon and Murda Mook all came off of there hiatus to once again lyrically spar round for round. Since then, battle rappers such as Reed Dollaz, Reign man and even Cassidy have expressed interest in returning. But those aren’t the only battle rappers we haven’t seen in quite sometime that could make a return in that ring. So here are a few more names that I feel should jump back into hip hops rawest form...

Jin
For those of you who don't remember, or for the newer fans of battle rap tryna act like they know but don’t, allow me to educate you on Jin. The first time most of us saw Jin battle was on 106 and park freestyle Friday. (Now for those who are thinking that don’t mean shit, this is where you shut up and listen). This was during the AJ and Free days when they had actual talent battling. And Jin was remarkable. Jin was only the third person (if memory serves me right) to win 7 straight battles and make it to the hall of fame following Poster Boy and Avalanche. And each was a clear win, no debating. Jin did so good in fact he struck a deal with Ruff Ryders and quickly became a popular topic in hip hop. Following that, we then saw Jin beat Shells in the Power Summit Fight Klub Tournament, and wipe the floor with Verse on SMACK DVD. And then came the Serius Jones battle and we all know what happened there. Bodybag for Jones clearly, no debating. But does that one bad loss cancel out all of his wins, of course not. In fact, Jin did have some bars against Jones that may have been overlooked by the public. And even after the L at Fight Klub went on to win a Battle tournament overseas. So let’s fast forward to today. A couple years back Jin was suppose to make his return against Dizaster at Grindtime (which could’ve been a classic if you ask me), but for whatever reason it didn’t happen. I know most people will always hold Jins career to the loss he received by Jones, but let’s be honest. How many battlers today have been 3-0’d or clearly beat then turn around and go crazy in there next battle.

Note: No, I didn’t forget he also lost to Iron Solomon at the Fight Klub.

Big Ace
Truthfully, a lot of people may not be too familiar of Big Ace. Especially due to the fact he only has two battles on Youtube. But one of those battles was a classic, against none other then Serius Jones. It was on Fight Klub and the battle was so back and fourth it went to double overtime. So all in all it went from a 3 to a 5 round battle. Big Ace definitely had bars, delivery, and the aggression that made for a dope clash of styles against the more laid back punch lines/jokes style of Serius Jones. Aside from Mook and Clips, Big Ace was hands down Jones' toughest match. Though Serius Jones won, I don’t think anyone can deny Big Ace did his thing. I’m not saying I wanna see him battle a top tier or big name, but a battle against some of the new and upcoming talent in the culture to see where he’s at now would be dope.

Note: His other battle was against Fox 5 in which I think he did real good as well, and got the W.

Lady Luck
Do I even need to say much about Lady Luck? Probably the most popular female battler ever. She has been offered a battle every month according to her and I don’t have a problem believing it. She had 2 classic battles with the one and only Remy Ma. Though she lost the first battle and the rematch, a lot of people thought she won. And you can’t deny how good her performances were. Her last appearance in the ring was against Reece Steele on the classic SMACK card NY Vs Philly, in which she beat Steele without much effort. That was at a time where there were only a few females battling though. Today, there is Queen Of The Ring and there is a good amount of females with bars that are putting in work. To see how Luck would do against Ms.Hustle Jaz The Rapper or some of the other females battling, would be epic and very entertaining to say the least.

Nems
Who doesn’t know Nems? Known for reppin Coney Island, Nems has battled everywhere from Fight Klub to Lionz Den to various battle tournaments and leagues around the states. Who remembers Marv Won telling Cortez “It’s one Rican they respect, nigga you ain’t Nems.” It let’s you know the amount of respect Nems has in the battle world. Maybe he’s not called out or mentioned now and days, but if you are a true fan of the battle culture you know about Nems. His most popular battles are against O-Solo and Math at the Fight Klub. He had a debatable battle with O-Solo in which he lost (I think due to the fact O-Solo had a unique delivery, but that alone shouldn’t have gave him the W) and didn’t fair to well against Math, but the battle still went into overtime. The last we saw Nems was in the Lionz Den against Dymez in which the majority of people feel he won hands down (even with the slip up in the third round). With other names on his resume such as Marv Won and Mic Assassin, Nems has definitely put in a lot for the battle rap world. I think if he came back, he could sell a good amount of tickets and if he’s on his A game, be someone you shouldn’t take lightly.

Soul Khan
If there was one battler that I would’ve never thought take a early retirement, it’d be Soul Khan. To be honest there still may be some fans who don’t know he’s retired on the account he did it so under the radar and out of nowhere. The last time we saw Soul Khan in the ring was when he delivered one of the meanest body bags against J Fox on the URL stage. His performance was so crazy it was the only time a battle rapper had a whole room chanting his name. But we cant forget the many 3-0’s and ass whoopings Soul Khan has handed out in his career. His performance against QP could be one of the top body bags in the last couple years, which explains why that battle has over a million views. Soul Khan has battled on Grindtime, URL, Don’t Flop, KOTD and many other battle leagues world wide. And always put on a great performance at least. So during his prime why would he suddenly retire? He says to work on his music. I can’t be mad at that but at the same time I think now and days battling can only help you gain other then hold you back, but what do I know. Before leaving the sport Soul Khan was very eager to step in the ring with Conceited. I think he was a win or two away from getting there and that would’ve been a classic. But with Soul Khan expressing no interest in returning, who knows what the future holds.

Who do you wanna see step back into the ring?
