What If? The Cassidy Vs Meek Mill Prediction

So we’re all aware of the trash talk and disses that sparked between Philly MC’s Cassidy And Meek Mill within the past couple months or so. It started when Meek Mill said he’d be willing to jump in the ring with some of the battlers that are making noise in the battle culture today. Instead, Cassidy stepped up to the plate accepting Meeks challenge. But Meek declined saying Cassidy wasn’t popping enough and we all know what happened from there. (If you don’t go do your homework). Regardless, the entire battle culture from it’s rappers to it’s staff to it’s die hard fans have been debating if they should settle it in the ring or not, and what would happen if they did. But with Cassidy’s recent 10 min diss track RAID looking like it won’t get a response from Meek, this issue is slowly fading and it’s looks like it won’t be a topic of discussion for much longer. So with that, goes the opportunity of a battle. The only thing we can do now is imagine what would’ve happened if these two highly respected MC’s came face to face. So based off of their diss records, bars and past freestyles this (IN MY OPINION) is what would’ve happened…

Coin Toss:
Yup, I’m even predicting the coin toss. After the crowd goes crazy as both rappers take the stage in amaze that this battle was actually about to happen, it gets almost silent. The host shouts “who calling who calling.” Meek speaks up first and calls heads. It’s heads, he elects Cass to go first.

Round 1:
The last few whispers and mumbles amongst the crowd die down as Cassidy opens up. His first set of bars are just a intro into the situation, maybe reminding us of why we’re here in the first place. As he continues he starts to fire some punches. Nothing to crazy, just enough to get some light oohs and aahs out of the crowd. As the round progresses he continues to throw punches maybe a slick joke here and there. Meek is on stage looking like he’s ignoring what Cass is saying, but we all know better. There’s probably a point in time he’ll have to stop cause the crowd is wildly cheering, not even off a bar that crazy, but you know how the crowd gets sometimes. He finishes good. It’s on Meek. Meek starts off appearing real confident. His first set of bars are somewhat of a intro as well yet different to what Cass did. As Meek continues his punchlines aren’t directly at Cassidy. He’s talking his shit, being a little boastful. (Example: “I burn bread I ain’t talking toast nigga.”) His round continues, half of it dissing Cass half of it general bars but finishes good as well. A good round on both ends, nothing spectacular though, Cassidy gets that one.

Cassidy 1 Meek Mill 0

Note: I don’t think any round from either MC will be over 3 minutes. Just sayin.

Round 2:
Cassidy opens up slowly again. But unlike his first round, he picks up on the punch lines early, and their coming more often. You can now hear that Cassidys voice is getting more aggressive, and the crowd is being pulled into it. At the peak of this, Cassidy’s punch lines start to become a bit more complex and more witty. (Example: “You a son of bitch tryna imitate ya pops.”) He also tries to put Meek in his place a bit. (Example: “You not a big willie jus cause you know how to willie bike.”) Cassidy doesn’t finish quite as good as he peaked in that round, but still finishes strong, enough to get a loud response from the crowd. It’s back on Meek. This round is a bit similar to his first, with a good number of jokes added. He may get on Cass for being broke and not being able to afford beats which is why his ten min diss track consisted of other industry beats. He may, na, he WILL get on him for the condom style record. (Example: Really? Condom style, get ya G gone/ You a clown ass nigga put a wig on.”) The crowd is really enjoying the angle Meek chose for this round, creating a lot of laughs and applauses. Another good round from Meek, but unlike last round, this round clearly goes to Cass.

Cassidy 2 Meek Mill 0

Round 3:
Cassidy starts off the final round with the feel as if he already knows he won. But he’s still coming with good punches though they’re not as strong as his second. And unlike his last two rounds, he’s starting to drop some jewels in between. (Example: “They might shoot they pistol/ but if somebody get shot the cops gon come and get you. That’s yo case they only know yo face/ and you can’t afford nigga even if ya dough straight.” ) As he brings his last round to a close, he makes claims that Meek won’t stay as relevant or in the scene as long as he did, and all the people around him won’t be there when he falls out of the spotlight. Cassidy ends his third round good. As Cass falls back with somewhat the relief that his part is over, Meek has a determined look on his face. He starts off his final round as if he’s setting up for something. So for the first couple bars the room is dead silent, anxious to see where Meek is gonna go. Then Meek comes in strong with some real talk. Maybe talking to Cass about how he was forced to be the man of the house at a young age or breaking down the work he really had to put in on the streets. (Example: “There‘s rules to the game I ain‘t never braking that/ and once you give a statement nigga you can never take it back.”) He continues to talk that shit. You know the kind of bars that always has that extra loud dude in the crowd go “THAT’S THAT REAL SHIT.” Maybe brings up some dirt on Cass only Philly heads know about. And it’ll definitely be the perfect time for him to bring up Ar-Abs recent blog where he’s trying to expose Cassidy, someone who we thought was like a brother to him. The crowds going wild, Meek delivers a few more real strong punchlines and then all of a sudden you hear, TIME!

Cassidy 2 Meek Mill 1

The Aftermath:
Overall this was an all around good solid battle. Is it a classic or one of the best we’ve seen compared to some of the best battles in the culture? No, not at all. But, it is a historic battle in it’s own right that will have replay value. I’m sure it’ll hit the million view mark pretty quickly given the celebrity status of the two alone. Though I think the majority of the fans will agree Cassidy won, a good number of people and the die hard Meek fans will beg to differ. Now as for where they go from here. To keep it 100, I honestly don’t think a win or loss for either Cass or Meek will really effect their careers. If Cassidy wins, he’ll definitely get more praise in the street and on twitter. Probably get more press on the more popular hip hop sites. But without a good radio single to bring him back to the forefront, that’ll only last for so long. If he loses, eh I don’t see much changing from the position he’s in now. If Meek wins, he’ll get the same yet a bit more. I think radio personalities will be more open to congradulate Meek appose to Cass because of his position in the game right now. It’ll also put another stamp on why he’s one of the newer MC’s that’ll be the future of hip hop. Of course, he’ll have to continue making good records. If he loses, I don’t think people will care that much. As long as he does decent, the general public won’t care if he wins or loses. Let’s be honest, this isn’t the 90’s or early 2000’s. Losing a battle won’t be the end of your career. And a lot of that is because of what the game is today. If you got a popping joint on the radio, to a lot of people now and days that’s all that matters. In the mainstream industry anyway.

Note: All examples were bars that Cassidy and Meek Mill previously spit.
