Been asked to play for Britain's Got Talent
Help people with auditions, general backing guitarist.
Thing is:
I detest Simon Cowell and everything he does. X Factor, American Idol, Britain's Got Talent... I hate what he's done to music and the fact that he almost makes the fact obvious that he really doesn't have a genuine passion for it and he's using it as a medium in which to make money, and in said medium, he doesn't have to make any effort to actually create something amazing. He tags along semi-talented fresh-faced braindead people and gets a team of producers to help them shit out an 11 track piece of utter retardedness. Not to mention the low-down scandal he was in that involved contact exploitation, where he gained musician's royalties on every track he produced by playing a few seconds of tambourine or something on each one, slipping it in the contract and carrying it out afterwards is a breach.
Phew. So yeah, the man's a scumbag. What should I do though? This shit could open up new things for me but if I was to step onto the stage I'd be going against everything I believe in.

The fuck you mean by saying it's a Tana diss?
And yes, thanks for the incredibly vague yet seemingly inspirational comment.

anyways, you didn't have to be an asshole but if you don't do it because of Simon you're an idiot.
I mean this to be inspirational too, but whatever man I'm saying put yourself number one take care of your dreams don't worry about him. if you don't do it because of him then he wins and what do you have to show for it your pride that nobody will care about? tell your grandchildren you could of been on a show but instead wasn't because of your opinions and feelings?
hate me or whatever but still just take care of yourself brotha

Nah, I know what you're saying, but just nah.
You're not following your own dreams when you go into business with him. It doesn't work like that. His business ethics are based on creating an image, rather than developing an artist, which is why these talented everyday people go to these shows. He monetises the hopes and dreams of talented average joes. The contract is one-sided, if the book written by the first X Factor (then Pop Idol) winner wasn't taken down in a lawsuit, you could read about the ins and outs of the actual deal that's made for the winner.
I know most people believe in the Hallmark happy ending when someone gets their "dream" given to them. It doesn't work like that. I mold myself as a person, I'm not going to let some corporate high-trouser cunt make me into what I am.
How do you think Justin Bieber got to where was today? He's such a talented individual, as a singer, an instrumentalist, he played in a jazz band as a drummer when he was 6 year old and he kept up. It's the labels that influence these people and showcase them the way they want to showcase them. Britain's Got Talent is just another medium to make that sort of thing happen.

you'd be crazy to pass up the opportunity ... from what youre saying it doesnt seem like youre gunna have direct dealings with simon anyways ... its an amazing chance to get exposure on a massive stage .. you could be seen and approached by anyone not just simon ... plus .. even if you arent .. its not like youre passing up on this opportunity for a better one? seems ridic not to capitalize on this chance .. do it

Just do it you pussy, Simon Cowell is gonna carry on doing those things whether you and do it or not but you won't be benefitting from it at all haha. It's a good opportunity, you'd be ridiculous not to do it just because you dislike Simon.
I <3 Simon

I wouldn't feel right on that stage unless I had a gun aimed at his face.

It would be a cross-country X-ray gun. Obviously.
Fuck, I forgot about that. Michael McIntyre is shootable, tbh.
