so how is getting higher education in any way/shape/form a disadvantage?
it's not disadvantageous at all. You can keep doing live battles. Cuz we all know that's how you're gonna make it as a rapper. thats how Drake, Kanye, and J.Cole started right? GrindTime? & posting mixtapes on datpiff and music videos on LB? lmfao
no thanks. I'll take my chances with a higher education & having connects in the industry tyvm
& it's always gonna be someone's job to teach the next generation. maybe i could be learning from someone BETTER who could've been BIGGER than those big time producers but they decided to teach others their same talent

I'm not ashamed at all. I'm blessed to have this opportunity and a fully supportive group of family and friends
but apparently I should be ashamed of going to Full Sail...according to Huey

im not sayin be ashamed. never said that. all im saying is you don't need to pay money to have unsuccessful musicians tell you how to make music
just show some fucking initiative, get some production software and pick up the fuckin manuel
people are just lazy or don't have the time to do it. If you have the time to go to school then you have the time to teach yourself
my 2 cents

"Full Sail University is often called a “scam” by former students for a variety of reasons. Perhaps the largest reason is the high expense of receiving an education there. Tuition ranges from around $36,000 to around $75,000 for a full degree program. Students frequently complain of having paid such high tuition prices and yet still having extreme difficulty finding a job in their field."
yo im tellin you right now. pocket that 40-60k and get yourself musical equiptment.. don't even need that much tbh. you could even pay a producer to let you be a studio bitch for a week and show you the ropes. Save yourself the money dude. nowadays everything is at your fingertips

while that's true a degree or being able to call yourself a "professional" in something goes a long way too. You can make a career out of it and be one of the best at it
Or you can use what you learn and produce your own music and do your own studio work.. That's basically what I'm tryna do. if that fails then I find work in the field I got a degree in to get some steady income.
It's hit or miss to become that one dude that has a huge fanbase and can actually make money off rap. It really is..you gotta have that edge, the right focus, the right drive, the right mass appeal, timing...shits crazy
I been chillin for a minute only cuz I understand that everybody grows when they constantly practice at something. You gotta take time to develop a style to call your own, the topics you'll rap about, etc etc..

yo don't duck my perma ban bet....
what if you did this. what if you took that 40-60k, rented out a studio apartment, sound proofed the walk in closet, got some production software and a mic, hired local producers to help you set up the joint. Then hire those same producers to work for you and bring in local artists to record. You split the money with the producer for rented studio time money that you get and sit in on all the sessions then slowly learn the craft... then start doing it all on your own.
pffft the shit id do with that money. shit seems like a slap in my face to see you use it like that, actually
