Your record has absolutely nothing to do with becoming the reigning defending topical champion by defeating a guy you admittedly want to face off against.
But then again, you ARE a well known guy on LB. Record = Everything.

@ Dono Maybe your complaints serve a purpose in the grand scheme of things if it helps to further educate people on how to vote on topicals.
I wasn't arguing about whether or not you actually did lose to a battle verse. It's the complaint over a loss and what I perceive as bashing the voters that I'm really not feeling, but like I said, you're one of the better topical writers on this site and you know what you're talking about (to an extent) so maybe some people are benefiting from that.
I disagree with the notion that my vote should be worth any less because I haven't written as many topicals. Whether it's text battles or topicals, the idea that someone's skills and accomplishments in that arena directly correlates to their voting skills is erroneous. What constitutes how much someone's vote should weigh is how much they understand the format, and you shouldn't presume their understanding (or lack of) based on how much weight they give to certain aspects of a topical. There is such a thing as personal preference.
That's like saying the fact that you as a fan of basketball have never played for any league should factor in and make your opinion of whether you prefer Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant any less valid. I personally at this point see the fact that you are attempting to marginalize my vote's validity as well as other voters through the tournament as a visceral response to the fact that it didn't go your way. When you lost to RULE, you in fact did complain about the topic selection process and some other things, and it just doesn't leave a good impression.
I would honestly love to see you congratulate M-Rock for his win, despite the fact that he may have been talking shit. Come on fam, you can do it! #yourebiggerthanthat

Eth and I had a talk about it, at length, and the next one should go a lot smoother. Changes include a clear voting outline and several dedicated voters who are well versed in topicals. When the system is flawed how else do you change it but to 'complain'? There's no other ways to point out the issues.

It doesn't make your opinion any less valid, but should you have the same level of say in a competition as say.......Lebron? I say not. The issue comes not in preference validity, but preference weight when competition is involved.
I don't think a random fan's opinion on a call in the NBA should hold as much weight as a professionally trained referee and and I don't think a ref with just training can be better than a ref who played for years and has professional training. Does that make the fan's opinion any less valid? Of course not.
Wonder Gurl is probably still waiting for her congratulations as well. That's just not something I generally do unless I talk to the person regularly.

I wouldn't compare myself to a random NBA fan nor a referee, but whatever analogy suits you. I will continue to vote on topicals according to my understanding and honest assessment. I'll be better prepared to have my opinion disparaged the next time I dare feel inclined to vote for an opponent of yours.
Peace

I'm just saying there's different levels of knowledge and experience that currently aren't well reflected in the audio topical realm.
Part of the problem is lack of clear guidelines.
That it has come down to a personal level on both sides shouldn't impact the underlying point.
