The five-beat selection for the track battle seems more than fair to me, i'll get the opinion of some veteran track makers to make sure they dope. And that'll do on the subject.

That system is fine. Not only is it more than adequate, it also tests the contestants to see who is actually better than the others. Pretty much anyone can jump on a beat of their choosing and spit a track, the real competitors will be the ones who thrive within those limitations. Same thing with actually battling then entering a scheme tourney, it shows who is creative enough to adapt to their surroundings and paint a picture with a limited canvas.
