I think someone can have legitimate reasons of their own for rating a verse completely different from the way you would rate it. It's called preference and I think you should take it into consideration that the person's preference might just be different from yours before you go lowering their vp when their vote/rating doesn't agree with yours.
I agree with what Illokwent said...how well they explain their rating/vote would be a more sensible thing to look at than simply what rating they gave.

I always take that into account Mike, it's part of the reason I'm a moderator and considered one of/the fairest voter on the site.

Take today for example: I actually gave a 1 for a verse. That's right, a fucking 1. The verse was THAT terrible; next to no rhyme scheme, no punchlines or attack of the opponent and I think one metaphor in the whole 8 lines. I scrolled through the votes after I'd voted and saw some people giving out 10's for the same verse. I thought nothing too much of it - probably just someone trying to bump up credits to drop a verse and not really reading the verse (which in itself is unacceptable - but then I rated another verse a 2 and saw the same person dropping 10's again. I went through all of the hotlist, and this same one person had given 9's and 10's to every battle, when there was no verse on there above a 6/low 7.

That immediately tells me that this person is either massively uneducated in terms of voting, or that they are dickriding/buddying. I let 8's and even a couple of 9's from other people slide, but voting THAT retardedly is wholly unacceptable and is killing the site completely. I wouldn't have done a thing had they even expo'd at all.

Would you rather these people were allowed to vote this way, pollute the hotlist with utter shit and buddy up together? The less VP these kinds of battlers have the better.

i honestly don't think half these new people know what VB FV GB NH and all that means anymore, they just see someone else do it and do it. lmao, anyone who votes like that should have their vp lowered once for each incident. first time send them a message telling them they have been lowered.. and each vote like that afterwards will continue to lower their voting power.

and as @RULE said i'm not going to the extreme yet of giving people 1-2's.. i'm sticking around the 3-4 range.. since thats below not bad, 4 must stand for not good. 3 must stand for bad. sooo i'm going off of the numbers.. but yeaa.. just need more active heads on these new people thats getting top 10 every week.
