I'd say it's a bit of both. The 1's who love it because thats all they know and the 1's who can't get past the surface (if it looks impressive, then it must be) so vote for it since they don't have enough knowledge and so they don't get called out for a bad vote because they "missed something".

indeed. eitherway its sumn that needs to be adressed, IF theres goin to be a split in voters. cause u cant have more than half tha pop voting for a faulty system.... and expecting it not to be tha way of tha site.

I've complained about this for years. I call it "reference wordplay". R:ican and Pulse do it a lot.

To me, wordplay has to work two ways.

Rush a drop? Only if the soviet economy crashes.

Both of these are sentences (a shit punch example tbh), and they make sense as sentances. Using the example Law gave...

You can see that as a sentence on it's own, the second line makes NO sense, which is what Law is referring to.

What I think people don't do these days is get the fundamentals down. You need to get your basic level down 100%. Basically, my style. Get a simple style of delivery, some good enough concepts and good enough rhyming. But from there, which I always failed to do, is that you can branch off and be original. You need to get the fundamentals down first, but when you do, you can break off into some more original and different styles.

Here's a proper example of wordplay. It's a bar in the 32 I posted but got deleted; it'll show up in one of my future battles.

I don't take meetin averages. I don't take meat in averages.
And the mill/meal is simple wordplay but it works both ways.

Actually, I'm going to disagree with this… Wordplay doesn't necessarily have to make "sense" when you read it both ways. He could've been "reference wordplay" as I put it. Using Haiti as a reference to an Island. But that's just me,. and I'm probably wrong. I just like the thought process put into wordplay..

I consider these examples as double/triple entendres...more so than logology (wordplay)...minor wordplay doesn't change the subject matter of an entire bar as it applies to one term, but utilized in both subject and predicate...flipping it as a double meaning, is something beyond just toying with a.specific word.
