i quite agree with this... although many people disagree with me
alot of people are so concerned about ... OH its 4:24 i gotta eat 230 calories and now its 5:45 i gotta eat 300 calories and oh shit now it 9pm i cant eat carbs anymore ... blah blah ... people who do this never seem to benefit as much as they feel like they will
eat alot work hard and you'll see results

Yeah for people who are dedicated to it, they would disagree. But for someone just looking to generally get in shape, doing compound lifts and drinking protine shakes or whatever isn't really needed.
Although for a dude rocking a beer belly, I'm not much to talk hahaha.
