I think the original idea was based on no past winners showing any intent to enter, it was more a "this could be a tourney to guarantee a first time champ". The wild card thing always stated it was reserved for title holders and "marquee" style battlers.

No ex-GC champion are being invited via wild card."

Shouldve put an asterisk or something. How does giving askari a spot reflect that?

But no ex-GC had any interest in entering.

Once Askari showed interest tho i could hardly say no after letting every other recent champion enter.

Plans change, it was a good concept at the time.

I just think you have let a newer cat grab the spot... def pay homage to the vets... but show the newer ones love too.. they been puttin in alot of work whereas most of the past champs only show up around tourney time.. but it is what it is... lets make it hot.. respect
