No one is acknowledging the fact that hip hop was unique because of the need for some degree of authenticity and respect. Battle rap is literally a written script and sometimes collaborated performance with the sole purpose of catering to the most simple form of hip hop....the diss.

Classic battle rap is different as it possessed spontaneous material with real respect on the line. Go watch Pat Stay vs. Rone compliment battle then tell me that's in the same vein as DMX battling Hov
