RULE's Reviews:
Khaos - Unnatural Dizaster (Mixtape)
Overview
The debut mixtape from Khaos. Strong lyrical ability over a collection of very current productions.
Track By Track Review
1. Mobsta Mentality
Punchline heavy opener to set things off here. Some solid quotables. Felt the track intro could of been better produced, especially as a tape opener. Otherwise a very solid start. 7/10
2. Godly Flow
Another solid punchline track over a tight instrumental. Nice letsbeef shout out! Low... 7/10
3. Self Evaluation (Ft Doc)
Nice track focusing on work ethics and street smarts. Decent hook and solid verses. Felt like the concept wasnt as fleshed out as it could of been. Another good track here though. 6/10
4. Wild Niggas (Ft Shakey)
Hook grew on me, solid production too. Content was mostly the cliched 'boss of the street' type lyricism found a million tracks like it. Still a decent overall song. 6/10
5. In My Zone (Ft Shakey)
A more mellow type beat here, again the usual street braggadocio but delivered well. Solid 6/10
6. Beauty Girl
A much needed topic switch here, the track about pursuing a woman whilst still wanting to stay street. While not the freshest topic, the delivery and above-average lyrics and a catchy auto-tune hook equates to a nice track. 7/10
7. They Know What It Is (Ft Shakey & Doc)
Beat is quite epic, yet again the delivery is nice, the bars above the average lyrically displays seen throughout the mixtape community. The lack of conceptual direction hurts it a little. But yet again, another very solid track. 7/10
8. Gettin That (Ft Shakey)
The track is hurt by the fact that its production, delivery and concept has been heard multiple times already during this mixtape. Feels very cliched and run of the mill at this point. 6/10
9. Ambitions
Just what the doctor ordered. Productions low key and draws the focus toward the lyrics. A more introspective song, which shows the first glimpse of actual emotion from the artist. Some lines fall into the usually hip hop cliches, and the delivery is a little patchy in places. A bit of a missed opportunity here. 7/10
10. ALI (Ft Shakey)
Basic hook here, and the topic falls back to gangsta posturing over a beat that sounds like 5 or 6 already heard on the tape. Hook really brings down the quality of the song. 5/10
11. CTM/YGMB Freestyle (Ft 2Gi & Shakey)
Solid freestyles over a decent street beat. But again the lack of conceptual direction hurts the tracks overall impact. 6/10
12. I Get It In (Ft Shakey & 2Gi)
Production stood out. Again another street thug rap topic. Delivery and bars solid enough. 6/10
13. Wats Da Bidness
Feel like a broken record but the production, delivery and content mirrors most the tracks we've heard already. The vocal effects on the hook made it stand out but nothing ground-braking here. 6/10
14. Got It All
Same scenerio. The hook one of the better on the tape, the punchline/street themed lyricism remains. 6/10
15. I Be In My Mode (Ft Doc)
Production is a lil more mellow here, the lyrics seem a touch more personal but only a touch. But yet again Khaos struggles to stand out from the crowd. 6/10
Average Track Rating: 6.4/10
Track Of The Tape: They Know What It Is
Verdict:
I'll start with the negatives: The intro to the tape closer says: "These other niggas dont do it like this." And that is the tapes biggest problem. The whole tape could be any other of the millions out there. Street production, street cliches etc etc. There absolutely nothing new or fresh here. Nothing to make a listener want to pick Khaos over any of the others out there. Another thing i noticed early on is the clear influence of T.I. the lyrics, delivery, and production made the comparision obvious and at times overwhelming. the positives and negatives merge a little but can be taken from the fact that while the tape sounds like any other mixtape out on the market, it definately doesnt sound out-of-place. The delivery and mixing is very good, and the lyrical ability is clearly evident if rarely displayed to anywhere near its full potential. Dont settle for being a face in the crowd, this tape desperately needed a song or two that had a conceptual twist to it and an element of freshness to it. Khaos has lyrical skill without question. And the T.I comparison is as much a compliment and it is a negative aspect. The sound is commercial-ready, you just need to do something to stand out from the overcrowded group of peers around you. Time to evolve from a T.I clone to a T.I beater.
Tape Rating: 7/10

Thanks for the review on my mixtape rule. As far as da TI comparison i can see it in some places wit some of the rhyme patterns i use but honestly i been usin these types of patterns since i started rappin. I always been heavy with da inner and outter rhymes and da multiple syllable rhyme patterns. So i also feel like my mixtape does differ from alot of other mixtapes out because a large majority of artist out right now arent usin the patterns or syllables that im using they usin a lotta 1,2, and occasionally 3 syllables. I agree i didnt touch many important topics or have any spectacular concept songs but dats due to me just puttin together a mixtape outta songs i got instead of makin songs for a mixtape which made da content be placed in a bracket so many others are placed in as just some "hood/street shit" but ultimatly thats who i did it for, so those are the topics i chose to use. But like i said i feel i do stand out cuz yea other mafuckas doin da shit but they not doin it as lyrical.
