Texting is its own form of competition.

Yes texting alone wont get you anywhere in the world of hip hop, but audio battling alot of the time wont either.

Anyone who does this to geniuinely get a record deal are seriously deluded.

I dont knock people for trying, but to treat texting as sooo below audio battling is stupid. Since both are similar "competitions" with slightly different levels of difficulty in certain catagories.

Text isnt a practice ground for audio. Audio battling isnt a practice ground for tracks. They all are different beasts. While there are links and skills from one that helps the other, its unwise to assume that there sole reasons for being are for "practice".

You think texting is lame? Thats your opinion. I'd guess a uneducated one as thoses who elevate in texting know just how skilled the top tier really are. Same goes for audio battling. Some might think its a childs version of real life battling, but as someone who's done a few audio battles myself i know just how skilled the top tier are to be there. Im deffly months away from reaching there level.

Ive done texting, audio battling, tracks and live battling too (im in a bristol freestyle league) and all four are completely seperate entities.

People just need to be more respectful of things they're uneducated about.

No, your just projecting your own prejudice upon his opinions. Why not take the man at his word?

To sum it up tho, I do think that if someones overall goal is to make some rap music, then text is a very viable practice field for more than just battling. It helps you to focus more on concepts. I find tho, that writing a text battle is vastly different than writing a track. I dont know why there is so much hate back and forth.

quite honestly...i'd MUCH rather read some dope texts with thought provoking concepts and laughs...than listen to 1min audio battles of people rhyming the same words over and over and attempting to sound tuff

Rule, no one ever said it was solely practice. The level of defensiveness that you assume when talking about this subject inhibits your ability to see eye to eye or at least make an attempt to with those you don't necessarily agree with.

That is practice. No one said it was solely practice. I've heard you on a beat and you do need more practice as we all do. Audio battling would give you practice on a beat. That would help your delivery in tracks. Alot of your points are either misguided or just blind. its no hate, just look at what you can accomplish instead of being close minded.
