Voting... How To Get Your Head Out Your Ass
first of all, getting into the FVC didnt used to be a fucking "who can write the longest overly complicated expo" competition. (Sidenote: why the fuck is the competition about voting on hotlist battles? thats ass fucking backwards. the FVC is about GETTING battles hotlisted.) one vote isnt better then another becuz its longer. as long as it has a reasonable explanation, there's noting wrong with it. the FVC is about giving advice to newer members that post, letting there ignored battles get shine, and making sure good battles get noticed on the hotlist.
the thing i've noticed in the past year or so with voting is that it's become more harsh. which is something i used to want. but now, its gotten to the point where this "realistic voting" bullshit is making battling less fun. everyone has become a snooty critique with their nose in the air.
looking back at the old battles in the "Golden Era" of LB, everyone was just reading verses and having fun. there werent mile long expos or hypocritical lames down rating you on shit they can't do themselves. a good bar was just a good bar. folks weren't going "hmmm that was a good verse... but lemme see if i can poke a few holes in it to justify me giving a 7".
im not telling anyone to sugar coat anything, but at the same time we should ease the fuck up, cuz most of the time, the shit we bitch about in expos is the same shit we have in our own verses. i always thought voting with enough harshness as to not sugar coat the flaws of verses while at the same time recognizing positives and showing humility was the best way to vote. but tbh i've fallen into the same shit i've been talkin about in this thread. but oh well. i cant control the site so vote how you want people. just my opinion.
