ILLMANIA III Preview
ILLMANIA III Preview
Another Illmania event is nearly upon us, so lets take a little look at what could, what has and what we hope will happen.
Classick At Rhymin
Probably the crew with the least amount to prove in the competition. Winners of Illmania I, and boasting the leader of Illmania II winning crew within its hierarchy. Classick is a battle proven squad who probably go into the event as slight favorites based on reputation only. Classick are also the longest running crew in the competition, who have been running since 2009, abeit with one or two short breaks along the way.
Classick currently have two Grand Champions within its ranks, so expect Revan and Krhyme Killz to be in Text and Audio action respectively. With heavyweight versatile battlers like Grizz, AT & SoupErb, Classicks line-up has many possibilties. In the Video & Topical sections Classick appear to be a little light in expierenced battlers, and could prove to be areas that Classick show vulnerability.
Ones to watch: Revan, Krhyme Killz & GRizzEAT.
Dead Poet Society
If Classick are the ones with the least amount to prove, DPS are the polar opposites, with the most to prove at I3. The overwhelming favorites to win Illmania II, they were on the recieving end of a shock defeat to Goon Squad. Although they were defeated, they did take it to the wire, meaning that DPS have an Illmania-tested roster. On paper DPS are probably the favorites to win, especially after a fantastic showing in the Basic Text tournament.
DPS have a well rounded squad, with a number of championships within the crew. Rhetorik being a Topical & Tag Team Champion, Erupt also a Topical Champion and Fiji Osa being the only Video Battle Champion in LB history. DPS are spoilt for choice in the Topical department, with Rhet, Erupt and Dono as prominant Topical battlers. Fiji also seems to be a shoe-in to represent the crew in the Video battle section of I3. If there is a weak spot in the DPS armour it may be in the audio area, with only Swagz being a recognised audio battler.
Ones to watch: Rhetorik, Erupt & Fiji Osa.
Turnbull AC's
The AC's will definately be the underdogs of Illmania III, and will rely heavily on its controversial yet enigmatic founder Dave. The recent recruitment of NOBLE adds bite and expierence to a crew that lacks much of the former. AC's will enter I3 as the most active crew of the bunch, and could ride that momentum to a number of upsets.
AC's are primarily a text battling based crew, with Dave's Topical expeirence being the exception to this rule. The lack of expierence in audio and video battling could prove to be a big obstacle for the AC's, although many should expect alot of suprises from the bulls.
Ones to watch: Dave, NOBLE & iMMortal_.
Legion Of Doom II
Not to be confused with the LOD that battled in Illmania I, The new LoD are primarily an audio crew, that have thrown their name in the hat for I3. They'll be expected to strongly challenge for the title in this competition.
LoD have an extremely strong audio presence, with Hall Of Famer and Grand Champion Ticket, Grand Champion Da Kidd Ferno and the reigning LBA Heavyweight Champion Phil Banks. Mind Fuck adds his Tag Team Championship to the mix, making LoD the most decorated team in the event. The crews activity levels could be a hinderance to their title aspirations though. Expect them to do very well in the audio and video battling sections. The Topical battle might be an issue, as well as their depth in text battling. Phil Banks is probably the hottest battler on the site right now, and with two battles on the card count on him to lead from the front.
Ones to watch: Phil Banks, Ticket & Da Kidd Ferno.
With the card to be confirmed shortly, all we can guarentee right now, is that Illmania III will undoubtedly be the absolute best one yet.
