One of the few things that still seem to instill that dope feeling this battle shit used to give me is helping random emcees elevate. I'm not necessarily more experienced than most of the dudes here, but I do tend to break things down in a supremely mechanical form in my brain & that usually allows me to explain some of the mechanics of this shit to people fairly alright, so I'm bringing back my group Elevation Temple.
But here's the shadow-motive of not only my group, but this public thread:
I think that one of the best ways to keep people interested in this website is to make it a place where we can literally change the course of their Hiphop careers, I know I'd never be doing the shit I'm doing today if EtH didn't stringently mentor me when I was super young in this bitch. And I also know one of the easiest ways to become great at something is to have a mentor more experienced than you helping you out, no matter what level you are at. So if you're a vet, or just think you have some really dope insight into the inner workings of this shit do what I'm doing & help some of your new heads out.
If you're an old head and you aren't helping the newer generation of LB emcees out, you're doing it wrong imo. Be a person that in 2 years a dope rapper can be like "Bro without you I wouldn't be where I'm at" and I guarantee the entire concept of "Fuck the old heads" fades fast. That, AND if we make elevation a good Niche of Letsbeef we will get a wave of rappers looking to improve their craft coming in. It's a win/win in most aspects, and an alright method of beginning to stop saying shit like "MODS FIX THE SITE WAHHHH WAHHHHH" and start actually improving this community.
Though the group system is still pretty terrible, its definitely more structured than IMs, to me, so it should serve as a consistent place to return for elevation help. So, if you'd like to elevate within an environment specifically designed for elevation, amongst a group only there for that purpose, feel free to reply here or PM me for an invite.
