Rap Battling > Rap Music
IMO. I very rarely listen to rap music these days; if I do it's usually Immortal Technique, PAC, Jay & occasionally Big or some more underground stuff (Lunar, Shotty etc).
I'd far rather watch Dizaster or Surf or Pass or fucking whoever tell Joe Battler why he's a faggit in a creative way or Lux tell Calicoe why his Dad was a cunt than listen to rap music full stop. There's so much more creativity and entertainment in it.
Any of you the same? Rap music is stale tbh, but battling is popping right now and there are a lot of cats at the top of their game, shitting all over the mainstream.

I respect your opinion Askari, but I personally don't see it that way.
Battle rap is entertaining as hell, but it's one dimensional. It can be creative, poetic, hilarious or whatever, but at the end of the day, the main point is to diss your opponent in a competitive atmosphere.
Rap music in general has so many different facets, which battle rap is just a part of. I'm not always in an aggressive mood to diss somebody, nor am I always interested in hearing someone else diss somebody. Sometimes I just want to hear a story or bop my head, you feel me? And that's another thing...battle rap quite often has no beat. That ain't music. It's definitely entertaining... but beats are one of the best things about Hip Hop, and I can't listen exclusively to something with no beat all the time.
Seriously, can you imagine yourself driving down the street in your car with the windows rolled down bumping battle rap?

^this. . .Cause when that 'one song' comes on at a certain time, it creates real emotions. It almost takes you to another level of Consciousness That Battles will NEVER be able to do.

You can't say it's one dimensional then list a load of different dimensions straight away.
I agree to an extent Askari, I agree that battling rap is more entertaining than rap music at the moment, but I still love the music and listen to it frequently

I can read.. I'm just saying there's a number of ways you can do that. Aims and dimensions are completely difference things.
That's like saying the main aim of music is to compose something people want to listen to, just because that's the only aim doesn't mean it's one dimensional.

Yes, that's the aim, but there's a number of dimensions to doing that.

So I'm either argumentative or just dumb? Or I have a different opinion lol. See me as however you like, but do it on your actual account and not your multi.

I know you're determined to argue till the sun comes up...or till you lose some calories, but I think you missed the "main point."
Of course an aim and a dimension are two different things. But when someone says something is "one-dimensional" there's a given that they're calling it that relative to something else.
I'm convinced that you're either an imbecile or you derive some sort of thrill from useless arguments.
