There is a lot of talent on this site, a lot of you write songs, cyphers and are interested in Topical battles, despite this the lounge is widely slept on right now. What would encourage you all to participate is Topical battles, and motivate you to drop your solo pieces in the Writers Block lounge?

Right now the topics given are in the form of pictures and quotes. Do you think there's any other theme formats that should be included?

5.Should Topical records be made from who has the most wins/losses?

Should that be the only factor when it comes to making the official record? Or should overall quality overrule quantity?

Yes, and I absolutely think that guidelines & etc would improve Topical activity.

Because some people just like a normal battle to see who's actually the "better battler".

What is incentive for you to participate in topical battles?

Motivation for topical battling would be a large(r) community of topical battlers, and creative writers in general. Also, a separate FVC (or something of that sort) for topical battles... consisting of those who are great writers themselves and understand (and can demonstrate) detailed aspects of writing to help others elevate while voting. Motivation for dropping solo pieces: a larger audience to cater to.

Pictures & Quotes are fine.. it's as if you're giving someone a cover of a book and a title and asking them to fill it.

Should Topical records be made from who has the most wins/losses?

Should that be the only factor when it comes to making the official record? Or should overall quality overrule quantity?

Topical Records: it depends on who's allowed to judge said battle(s). To portray quality over quantity in a topical record (if that's what you're trying to say.. ie: the "best" topical battler may have a worse win/loss ratio, but always delivers better quality) would be hard.. and would require yet another set of judges. I have no clue how that'd work.

People don't do it because the general mentality here is....well beef. Topicals don't get much love because of that and lack of knowledge about the section. The battle system/voting is also slightly more cumbersome than normal battles, which probably demotivates lazy people.

To stick with the same scheme as normal battles records should probably just be off of wins. (which I think means I'm #1, awe fuck yeah)

Also, I'll participate in however many battles you want to set up for me.

Yup and it would be sick to see more emcees giving it a try. I think theres a chance the section would be more active with clearer guidelines n advice etc

they dont want to take the time to write and maybe they dont like the 'topic' idea.
they would rather battle and elevate their skill when it comes to that. etc etc

Yeah seeing more then a hand full of active emcees/vets dropping topical battles would be dope and i def would be more active then i am w/ topicals n cyphers. If the 'big names' on the site were around giving these new emcees advice/props for their good lyrics etc it would make people WANT to drop solo pieces n topicals imo.

Not off the top of my head, Films would be cool but would rely on people to have watched it and it probably wouldn't be viable.
