Battle Rap Culture?? hahahhaa....no.
So i've been seeing more and more...'respect the culture' when it comes to battle rap. The reality is...battle rap has no culture. It is quite literally a bastardized, less creative version of hip hop. How do i know this? Well....read through these battles. Fucking anyone can do it. To compare Battle Rap to actual Hip Hop music is insulting.
Battle rap is one small element of the music. Its like saying that the Harlem Globetrotters could beat the '95 Bulls. One is a complete team, completing against other complete teams in all facets of the game...defense, pressure, crowd effect, injuries. The other is a team that focuses on nothing but dribbling and showmanship. Apples and Oranges. so the next time you are about 'battle rap culture'...remind yourself what that means. Its the fakest part of Hip Hop. :monkey: |
Maybe these days but old school battles produced some dope emcees.
|
Anyone can do it, doesn't mean shit. Anyone can play football, basketball, etc. doesn't mean you are good at it
|
lol shut the fuck up
battle rap "culture" only exists if you want it to the only battle rap culture that matters is the culture of writing dope punchlines and heavy bars |
Yo @Krhyme Killz
you're saying that anybody can battle rap I agree but it seems its almost as easy to become an emcee nowadays too without putting in any time or effort unlike battlers examples that whip that nae nae dude from ATL he basically just jacked other people dances from previous years added a catchy Future sounding hook posted it on youtube and now he's touring... The big artist in the game have ghost writers/C.O history/house nigga from Compton/ .....so everything aint authentic in Hip Pop either now everyone might agree that Meek Vs Drake beef was the best thing to happen in Hip Pop...thats how low it sunk 6-7 years ago everyone would of been clowning it saying it was the worst beef in rap history |
chico, what you smokin on tho?
|
Calls battle rap the fakest part of hip hop.
*puts on future, drake, young thug, fetty wap, rick ross* |
@Krhyme Killz damn, fam. Good to see you still 'round the place. Hows things?
Battle rap is only a segment of Hip Hop. Hip Hop's the culture. :high: |
Quote:
I tend to preach this point quite a bit, but maybe that's because I appreciate music and the artistic sides of hip hop more since I am not the strongest battler... middleweight status at best. |
First and foremost, being a subculture of a larger group still denotes a culture of its own volition.
Second, perhaps they are remarking on the culture of hip-hop, as an entirety, as opposed to "battle rap culture." |
