There are two kinds of wordplay. In Week 2 we focused on the first kind. For example, the word hood meaning a car's hood, and also someone's area of residence.

The other kind is more of a play on the actual sound of the word. It's taking a word or combination of words and making them sound the same as something else. For example:

Rush A Battle / Russia Battle
Vague Ass / Vegas

Another example is in the name of Grand Champion TalkSicks name.

TalkSick / Toxic

It's important to make sure they sound EXACTLY the same. This style of wordplay isn't about making things sound similar, it's about making them sound the same.

Here would be an example of incorrect wordplay, which you see quite commonly in the lower ranks:-

Five Nancies / Fianances

Because of the "v" sound in Five Nancies, it no longer sounds the same as Fianances. Pretty much in short, this means it's NOT wordplay. There is no margin for error with this style. If you're throwing out wordplay that doesn't sound the same, the entire punch falls short from then on.

It's very easy to force something out. Sometimes, people will really stretch out an entire sentance to reach some wordplay, and to me it just never works. My favourite example is from Pulse, who is a pretty established battler:-

Hyper Ball Licking Time / Hyperbolic In Time

Sure they sound the same, but it's just such a ridiculous stretch that it never works. Like with multis, sometimes there is some accent shit in there which changes it for some people but being Scottish, if I can let that shit go, so can you haha.
