My father wouldve loved to speak about his dad, but its difficult to talk about somethin youve never had. He took an alternate route to nail this objective, and narrate through my 2 year old perspective. The instant he learned my existance confirmed, he talkin to the stomach, soon enough a kick was returned. Cesarian birth, he got to hold me first, while they stitched up Mom so she could nurse my thirst. Talkin softly, couldnt take his glossy eyes off me, I amaze him so his expectations are lofty. I was newborn he slept wit an open eyelid, and says his life didnt really begin til mine did. He was the cameraman and I was the focus, video proof I spoke at 4 months was a bonus. He knew the boogie down was no place to raise me, we moved out to Jerz his daily commutes crazy. Workin his fingers down to the bone, in an attempt to get me all the things he wasnt fortunate enough to own. Im the target on which he'll drop tons of knowledge, he'll starve before he dips in my fund for college. he'll advise me wisely - step back let me do me, and never try to live vicariously through me. Im junior wit his name - he'll let me be original, an individual and his love is unconditional. He's already plannin what to say in his head, when he sits me down for that talk that most fathers dread. He was bad as a Big Apple hooligan could be, in that regard he hopes I fall far from the Tree. He does the tongue-bite, lettin mom think she right, so Im not subjected to watchin them fight. He'll die for me just as quick as he'l kill for me, like he "lost a hunnit pounds" he "tryin to live" for me. I made em wanna be a BETTER MAN THAN HOW HE WAS, and reach all of his goals aHEAD OF PLAN AND NOW HE DOES. When his time is spent, if Im half as proud of him as he already is of me then he'll die content. Not a one-night consequence, my life was arranged, if he could do it all over again nothin would change. Im my FATHER'S SON, for lack of a BETTER QUOTE, my JOB IS DONE ,this the realest rap he EVER WROTE Comment Only

I am my father's son Not the same since he went to war, wish it was metaphor But it's true, never seen a man that was dead before His name is Jack, but they want me to say he's dad He's a piece of shit who just sits on his lazy ass Maybe half of what my father used to be, truthfully This man will always choose to be a slave of booze and weed And that's only the start, he gets so pissed he'll throws fists So usually what he says is what mom and I go with My father taught me to choose your battles wisely And nothing he ever said was to be taken lightly So in fighting, I only make a point when I have to But today I realized it was past due, he's a bad dude See, Jack went on attack, started hitting my mother Slammed her skull on a counter where it split and it ruptured Unconsciou s, bloody, she was rushed to the hospital Where he fed them loads of lies, nothing was logical She hasn't woken up yet, no, she's in a coma So Jack took me home gave me a soda, said it's over And he apologized, but that doesn't change all the lies Plus what if mom doesn't recover from the brawl and dies Then I'm stuck with this worthless fuck that'll kill me next So tonight in this house, guarantee there will be death Drowsy for the last time, Jack snoozes, loudly snoring While the final details of my plan are proudly forming I stole my dad's gun, ready to pull the hammer back Remember him teaching me exactly how to handle that So many memories, but he's only there mentally Guess our happiness together wasn't meant to be I really loved him, with my entire heart and soul Why, why was our future torn apart and stole? I am my father's son but this man is not my father My dad was killed in action, this is my step dad, an imposter I push the barrel to his forehead, full of vigor Yell 'I hate you, fuck you jack' and pull the trigger Not the same since he went to war, wish it was metaphor But it's true, never seen a man that was dead before Comment Only

Holy shit. This was very good guys. This is really tough. I thought I was going to give it to M-Rock then I thought Dono. Took a second listen and now I'm stuck. Damn, this is tough. So let's break it down category-wise. Flow: I'll say that's a tie. Vocabulary: M-Rock used more advanced words. Storyline: Dono had more of a story to it progression, climax, and resolution-wise. Imagery: Dono used more adjectives and descriptors for scenes of his story. Rhyming: Dono use multi-syllable rhymes while M-Rock has a lot of one syllable rhymes. So by categories, Dono edged this by one point. GREAT BATTLE THOUGH! Voted: M-Rock / Dono

I could relate to both stories but felt one was just better scripted then the other by a tad.. Voted: M-Rock / Dono

As far as flow, I felt M-Rock had a better flow. If you took these two acapellas and put them to a track, M-Rock's verse would more so fit right in. This has nothing to do with one syllable vs multi-syllables. It has to do with timing. M-Rock's timing of his delivery was more regular, whereas in Dono's verse, some lines were enunciated slower or faster than others. I think Dono conveyed emotion better in his piece, and it was partially because of that. When you listen to Dono, there were parts where he was louder and sounded more angry due to what he was talking about. There were times where his spoke more softly or slower. M-Rock didn't have as much variety in his delivery, and I think this allowed Dono to convey more emotion. I think both did well in forming an image of what's happening in the listener's mind. Both had very good storylines. I did, however, feel that M-Rock's storyline was more justified by the topic "I am my Father's Son." When I listened to M-rock's piece, I felt like both the perspective of the father and the son who was narrating were well represented. In Dono's piece, it was mostly the son's perspective that we got. We didn't really get things from Jack's perspective. Because of that, I felt M-Rock's verse was justified by the topic a little more. This was very close and I enjoyed both pieces a lot. But I got my winner. Voted: M-Rock / Dono
