EXPO:

He's been in 2 GC Finals and lost both of them, your name turns Blue when you win a GC. Selsun Blue is a brand of dandruff shampoo. If you need an expo for anything else, just ask me.

At the end of the day this bout saw two experienced and skillful battlers bring two very good verses, which meant it took me several reads to pick a winner. But, after looking closely through each verse, I believe Arthur Morgan's verse was ahead of Celsius's in terms of both conceptual strength and execution.

Celsius the first portion of your verse mainly consisted of personals. These can be very effective, but the personals you brought here were old news (even to me, and I've been on the site for a couple of months) and you didn't really have a fresh take on many of them. Wonderbred used essentially the same personals in the scheme tournament but was able to do it much more effectively by weaving in much more wordplay to make them conceptually stronger. You had some of this, but many bars didn't have a deep level of conceptual strength beyond the rhyming, which just wasn't going to be enough to beat someone like Arthur Morgan. Some of your multies were also a little off. In "(de)manding/ramming/champion/standing" I don't personally see how Champion fits into the rhyme scheme. I gave you the benefit of the doubt that it would work as a half-rhyme with accents, but even that really stretched the limits of my imagination. The Shawshank Redemption bars were probably your strongest on a conceptual level (although Morgan Freeman's character doesn't actually escape prison through a tunnel) although I was confused by the wording as to what it was actually talking about, and even with the expo I didn't really think the wording worked both ways. Execution wise I wasn't really sold on the cleanliness of the rhyme in "question/preference/redemption" although I gave you the benefit of the doubt there. I quite liked the hepatology closer too, although again I don't think that "rekindle liver, recovered" is something anyone would ever say.

Arthur Morgan... no fuck it I'm just gonna call you Lock cos its easier and everyone else does. Broadly I think that your conceptual strength won you this battle. The acupuncture punch was a good opener, and the way you had a lot of thematically consistent punches about videogames was especially effective and probably the specific thing that clinched it for you. I also thought that your shampoo line was probably the botb. However, there were several weaker points in your verse that held it back. The broken bottle bar was well-executed, but "I'll meet you with a bottle on your doorstep like someone whose job is to meet you with a bottle on your doorstep" isn't the most creative way to finish the bar, and I really felt that this conceptual simplicity took away from the power of the punch. Towards the end of your verse I also thought a few things didn't really make sense. Screaming at the top of your lungs isn't something you really do in choirs in my experience (although I have been kicked out of an all-comers choir so maybe I've just been doing it wrong), although I gave the benefit of the doubt that this is just another American custom in churches I don't know about. The closer was also a bit weirdly worded. If you're waking up inside his girl, the only way that makes sense to me is if he's dating Cardi B. Maybe that is a pretty vicious punch, but it still has you as collateral damage and was confusing to read.

Good battle, in the end Celsius had fewer examples of effective wordplay, more wording issues and more issues with rhyming (although both verses were very very good).

Sorry for being overly harsh or nitpicky but especially for elite battlers like yourselves I'm sure critique is much more productive than praise.

Solid Drop from both emcees. A Lot of fire concepts from both ends of the spectrum. But one edged it especially with his closer. Loser had some interesting personals that had me cracking up and delivered some clever wordplay in areas. Just leaning towards my choice for harder and cleaner punches. The fair is in

This was a tough call. Both you guys exhibited excellence. Even in all categories so for me it comes down to preference cuz you both had fire personals and name flips both had bars that i liked and disliked so in essence they cancelled each other out so im voting based on whats left of the verses. First a highlight from each.....Celsius "Use to hide while his uncle was deMANDING SEX TO START, night terrors from RAMMMING FLESH APART caused this CHAMPION VET TO SCAR, Like the frames of 'Kevin and Dwayne' Fry was 'Rock Solid STANDING NEXT TO HART!" thought this was a dope way to start not to mention how hot it was cuz it was a personal that you crafted into a nameflip well done! After that it lost a little steam but not much cuz outside of the opener ive seen those personals used against lock before by a few different guys so they really didnt hit for me. Your closer however made up for that in terms of the wordplay being turned into a personal that i havent seen and it was a fresh concept imo so props for that. Overall a great job ....Lockhart i feel like you stepped it up here but you had to just cuz Cel is such a formiddible opponent your highlight to me was "Ya choked in 2 GC Finals, finishin' 2nd PLACE WITH AWFUL DROPS, so we'll only mention "Cel's in Blue" cause ya known for bein' "FLAKY OFF THE TOP"! I believe you made this your signature cuz ive seen you do it to others in the same type of creative way you displayed here. Great work i feel you also have botb with the xbox exclusive punch heavy shot there. This is neck & neck PAUSE! lol but really can go either way super but i got Lock on the win for some punches and structure i preferred RESPECT to both pugilists for putting on a fire show for the beef thank you for the hard work gentlemen greatly appreciated💯

Damn. Dopest battle I’ve seen in a long time.

Punchlines: I think Lock gets the win in this category, simply because he had the better execution for his set-ups. Shit like the exorcist line, flaky off the top and fallout 76 were really fucking clever imo. However some lines like the halo line were kind of predictable, since more people know Halo as in the game, more than the object. Celsius also had some nice punchlines, such as the champion vet to scar line and the lisps abyssmal. Though I think that some of your lines were trying to be creative for the sake of being creative, not actually trying to destroy your opponent. Arthur takes this as I think that almost all of his punchlines hit his opponent, and hit hard, while in contrast Celsius had some lines which didn’t really hit that hard.

BoTb: “Fallout 76” - Lock

Multis: This one is more of a clear win for Lock. Celsius was really good with his multi’s, but had a lot of 2 word multi’s, and when facing Lock, who has some of the best multi’s in the site. Rieper came with a constant slew of 4-5 word multi’s, with only 1 two word multi. Celsius did have some longer lines, but they hail in comparison to Lock’s.

Winner: Lock

Metaphors and Wordplay: I’ll keep this section short, I think Lock won this due to the strong connections due to the things he were comparing. Celsius also came strong, but not at strong as lock did.

Winner: Lock

Final Decision: Lock wins this with a clear sweep. Great display from both sides brought fire, but ones burned for longer.

Celcius had some really dope creative way of articulating average imagery while arthur morgan had some really dope imagery but with average or shall i say more convetional articulation, either way from a diss point i think arthur's verse was just a better battle suited verse here and only here coz in most other cases it may have pretty to very difficult to beat. Well done guys!!

Fairs in.

Cel - First bar was dope, concept was fresh. Delivery was off. The next bars were personal and they hit hard. The banking preference was clever. Roh personal / More bodies than you. Whhaaaat. Fire. The hepatologist was a haymaker. Delivery was decent too. Arthur Morgan - First was okay. Concept was all right. Delivery was off. The Ciroc and Beer delivery was line wack tbh, I get it but mediocre to say the least. Could have stringed it a bit better. Seen the socker bopper line but it's not rockem sock em, it's just sock em. Not sure what you mean there but your own wording messed you up. Flaky concept was your strongest bar so far. And than it went down hill. Lackluster performance from the champion. Okay fellas, overall nice battle but personals over bars here. Expected better from Arthur tbh. High 6 to high 8. Fair vote. EZ. Voted: Celsius / PapaLock
