Tough one to vote on, but I'm going for VerseNebula for being slighty more direct.

Both should read more battles from the top guys here. I recommend Seul, Edgeworth, Lockhart, Shodan.

As well as reading the battles to see how punchlines are set up and how bars are structured, read the votes themselves. This way you'll see what voters look for and what they don't like.

Some tips:

Make sure to capitalise your rhymes, which should be more than 3-4 syllables at least. E.g. write chased by the cops as CHASED BY THE COPS. Put your setups in "..." or '...'. 'Filler' is the bit in your verse that doesn't really add anything to your punch so make sure there's not too much of that.

Exexution is the way you word your bars, how well you make everything relate to the overall concept, and how creatively you do that. The more natural the wording is the easier it is to follow, and if everything links well then there'll be more sting in your punch as it's been setup better, and the more creative/complex your ideas are the fresher tha bar. Better excution = More impact in your punches.
